Line of Questions

The half-mile 'Line of Questions' interpretive walk on the NASA Ames Research Park Campus was designed to extend the rich and complex dialogue that took place during the 2009 Summer Sessions of the International Space University and Singularity University. Questions and thoughtful images were posted weekly on signboards along a walk composed of simulated, large-scale resistors and IC chips. The trail marked the daily route for the 131 participants and reflected the fact that NASA Ames is both home to one of the world?s fastest super computers and is NASA?s lead IT center.

"The trail posed questions that help make connections," said walk designer Kaye Lynn Johnson. "Topics ranged from cosmology to the building blocks of matter, and from space exploration to understanding life on earth. Each week new questions challenged participants to think outside the classroom. For example, "Why did the photograph of earth from space start the green movement? The goal was to turn the whole campus into a learning environment."
